THE PROBLEM: 70–80% of water contamination happens AFTER collection, during transport and storage in jerry cans. Traditional treatment stops at the source. 95% of rural Ethiopians still lack safely managed drinking water. For decades, the development sector drilled wells and moved on, nobody was concerned with what happened after water reached households. OUR SOLUTION: Clara produces disinfectant on-site from kitchen salt and solar energy, eliminating imported chemical supply chains entirely. Our system maintains Free Residual Chlorine that protects water for up to 12 hours after collection, solving the recontamination problem at the household level. Features include: AI-enabled chlorine dosing for precise automated treatment, remote monitoring accessible from anywhere, and scalable systems from 10 m³/day to 9,000 m³/day serving small communities up to entire towns.
