How to find a startup job in Switzerland

Sources checked:

A useful startup job search begins with a clear role and a realistic location. Start with the current vacancies, then use company profiles to understand who is hiring and what they build.

Start with your constraints

Choose a city, profession and working arrangement. Engineering, sales, design and operations need different evidence of your skills. Read the whole advertisement: an English description does not guarantee that German or French is unnecessary, and hybrid work is different from a fully remote position.

Research the company

Open the company’s website and original careers page. Compare the product, customer group and team stage with your interests. Before an interview, prepare questions about the manager, first projects, decision making and why the role is open. Treat funding announcements as context; ask the employer directly about hiring plans and the resources for your team.

Apply with relevant evidence

Use the application link on the role. Explain why this product and team interest you, and show one or two examples of the work the role needs. A portfolio, shipped feature, research result or measurable sales outcome is more useful than a generic application sent unchanged to every startup.

Compare the written offer

Ask for the workload, gross salary, bonus conditions, reporting line and any equity plan in writing. The Swiss SME Portal identifies position, salary and weekly hours as core contract information. Swiss SME Portal: employment contracts.
